The days are cooling down which is so refreshing after the hot summer months and the nights drop in temperature - ahh the perfect bonfire weather!
 

Fall Weather In Chattanooga

Fall temperatures here in Chattanooga are dreamy. The summer humidity is fading and it's time to pull out the winter scarves and sweaters. From September to October the highs average 70 degrees and the lows are 40 degrees. Starting in November things start to cool down and the average high is 56 degrees and the lows are 33 degrees. Chasing Fall Colors in Chattanooga

Chattanooga has lots of different ways to see the Fall colors! You can see them on foot, by boat, by train, and by bike! They are spectacular and you won’t want to miss it! In our experience, the best time of year to see the color is the last week in October and the first 2 weeks in November.

Seeing the Fall Colors By BoatChattanooga water activities

All aboard the Southern Belle! A historical riverboat that has been completely restored and offers daily cruises right on the Tennessee River. They have a special “Fall Color Lunch” which is a sightseeing cruise that they have daily throughout October and November. The Chattanooga Ducks tour is the perfect land-to-water experience! Start your tour in Downtown on their bus that converts to a boat and end up on the river. And possibly the best way to see the colors by boat is to rent your own pontoon boat at River Gorge Excursions. They specialize in Pontoon Boat Rentals and Pontoon Boat Tours, giving guests the chance to witness and explore the beautiful scenery of the Tennessee River Gorge.

Chattanooga train ride in the fallSeeing the Fall Colors By Train

The Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum has the Hiwassee Loop train which is a 3.5 hour long train ride that will take you through the countryside and between mountains in both Georgia and Tennessee. This is an experience that will leave you breathless and it’s something you won’t want to miss. This tour is offered from mid September to end of November. 

The Incline Railway is another option to see the fall colors as well as a gorgeous view of Chattanooga. The incline railway takes you to the top of lookout mountain where you can walk around to several different viewpoints and there is a gift shop that sells handmade fudge from scratch. Yum!

Seeing the Fall Colors By Bike


The Chattanooga Bike Share system is a great way to view the beautiful fall foliage while pedaling along the 13-mile paved Riverwalk. The route runs parallel to the Tennessee River and through the scenic Bluff View Art District where you can stop and grab a coffee at Rembrandt's Coffee house. You won’t be disappointed with their in house roasted coffee or a pastry! 

Mountain Biking is an extreme way to see the fall beauty and to feel at peace in nature. On our website you can find we have a whole list of mountain biking trails that will leave you in awe and wonder! All skill levels are listed.
